THE INAUGURAL SWELLENDAM100 MTB IN THE BAG!

DAY ONE
Just over 100 riders set off this morning from the Field and Fork for what turned out to be the perfect day on a bike in the beautiful

Swellendam mountains!

Just on the half way mark riders were treated to the Checkers Water Point located at Rolandale farm stall.

The first riders came in just over 2 hours after the 08h00 start, and the fun riders holding up the rear coming in just under 6 hours.

Broadly smiling faces crossed the finish line. After a quick prize giving with some awesome prizes and lucky draws sponsored by

Wildekrans Estate Wines, Endless Vineyards and Oakley, riders left with a full afternoon to enjoy the offerings of the town

Congratulations to the all leaders -

The overall lead in the mens category was claimed by Pieter Gidenhuis in an astounding time of 2h 05 minutes . Des Doman was 2nd and followed by D Behm, a junior rider, coming in less than one minute behind him. Tomorrow will be hotly contested!

First in the ladies category was Juanita Kruger - who also placed 7th overall despite having undergone a shoulder operation last week. Yster!. Michelle Doman placed 2nd and Dominique Provoyeur hot on her heels with also under 1 minute time difference. Well done, ladies!

DAY 2:

What a beautiful day to experience Bontebok National Park. 23 degrees and smiling. First 15km via Bontebok Park, then off to the Checkers waterpiont at the Berry Farm and the magnificence of surrounding Hermitage.

Riders found it hard to resit the temptation of a quick dip in the municipal dams, and it was off to the finish. Overall winning time was 1 hour 37 minutes! What a ride. Congratulations, again Pieter Gildenhuys on an outstanding performance.

keep your eyes open for the early bird entry!

Till next year.
